AIRPORT PROJECTS

Brooksville - Tampa Bay Regional Airport’s Infrastructure Development Plan is moving beyond long-range planning with a funded initiative focused on expanding access to the airport’s west side. A central component of the project will convert an inactive runway into an active taxiway, extending direct airfield access to future aviation-development areas and improving the development potential of adjacent landside property.

The project is designed to transform underused airport land into a platform for business recruitment, private investment and enhance high wage employment opportunities. As infrastructure improvements advance, prospective companies can begin coordinating site selection, leasing, facility design, land preparation, and construction with the airport’s implementation schedule. This allows public infrastructure and private development to move forward together rather than requiring businesses to wait until every improvement is complete.

Key priorities of the Infrastructure Development Plan include:

• Activating an inactive runway for use as a west-side taxiway

• Extending airfield access to future aviation-development parcels

• Opening additional land for airside and adjacent landside development

• Supporting site access and the infrastructure required for new facilities

• Coordinating infrastructure delivery with leasing and private development

• Creating scalable opportunities for hangars, MRO facilities, aerospace manufacturing, advanced air mobility, and other aviation-supportive uses

• Strengthening the airport’s ability to recruit investment and create jobs

Design and engineering work is substantially advanced, positioning the airport to move toward implementation while continuing to market development opportunities. Together, these improvements will create a more connected and flexible development environment for aviation, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, industrial, logistics, and commercial users.
