- From July 20, 2012 Press Release -
Following 18 months of research, focus groups, public meetings and design work, county staff is proposing to change the airport name to the Brooksville-Tampa Regional Airport & Technology Center. This new brand represents the evolution of the airport from a World War II training facility, to an award-winning complex of aviation and business interests. This branding effort represents a key component in the approved economic development plan which was adopted by the County Commission earlier this year. Michael McHugh, manager of economic development, states "The new brand is about effectively and accurately describing our significance as a world-class business location. This 2,400 acre complex represents many unique business propositions and successes which should be represented in the brand. This is critical to our job creation and diversification efforts. It will directly and favorably impact existing businesses and the recruitment of new businesses."
The new brand, if adopted, represents a starting point. Staff will follow with an implementation plan which will detail the actions needed to successfully implement the brand. The plan will cover many aspects including logo/brand development, new signage and numerous enhancements to our business parks.
The Board of County Commissioners will consider this proposal during their July 24, 2012 meeting.
